Name of Spot
Cardiff Reef
SummaryOne of the most known spots in all of San Diego county, the spot consists of three different reef breaks. First is Tippers which is the furherest north of the lagoon, and wave itself tends to be a hollow left with a mushy right. South is Suckouts which is more dangerous due to the shallow reef, but is very hollow. Only for shortboards. Finally in front of the parking lot is the South peak which is much more mellow right peaks riding towards the lagoon. Best during low tide, and can be extremely hard to get out during large winter swells. Summer time tends to be more mellow except for the crowd. AccessThere is a parking lot (pay) directly in front of the break, right of the 101.
