Name of Spot
Rockaway Beach
SummaryAn occasionally excellent, heaving right that can handle good sized swells. Has a big channel at the South end of the cove. Not for the faint of heart when it gets big. Also breaks on West and South swells. Interesting historical footnote: there was a lime quarry here that supplied the lime used in the whitewash that was painted on the buildings of the Presidio in San Francisco. AccessDirt parking lot right in front of the break. Type of WaveBeachbreak, ReefSwell WindowSouthwest, West, NorthwestBest wind directionEastBest Tides for SurfingLow, MidCrowdCan get crowdedLinks
