Name of Spot
Tennis Courts/Ala Moana
SummaryThe break consists of a long performance right with hollow sections in and out, and also has a left although it tends to be mushy and a little shorter of a ride. Overall the break can handle surf up to 8 feet and is geared towards intermediate and experienced surfers. To get out to the break, the easiest way to avoid the coral reef is to stand in front of the tennis courts and locate three rocks portruding out of the water. Once you have found them make them your target and paddle out to the right of them which will take you in a slight channel that is deep enough to paddle in, which will lead you to the break. Locals here tend to be mellow, but be experienced for the way the wave breaks you end up in the inside break and not near the channel. So paddling out means also staying out of the way of the incoming surfers. AccessThere is parking at the Ala Moana Beach Park, but if its summer time you can pretty much forget getting a spot. The other parking lot to use is the Magic Island lot at the Diamond Head end of Ala Moana Park.
