Title

Blue Goose

Description

Nancy Lencioni opened the first store in 1928 at 205 W. Main Street. In the early years, the Blue Goose only sold fruit, vegetables, and a limited number of grocery items. Since its establishment over 70 years ago, the Blue Goose has become something of a St. Charles civic landmark. Lencioni got the name of her business off the side of a Pooley Fruit Company carton. The company used a blue goose in its logo. At the time of the store's 1963 move to its present location, the Pooley Fruit Company sought to prevent the store's continued use of the name. However, the Lencionis retained the exclusive use of it, with no store within a 50 mile radius able to copy it. The store remains a Lencioni family business to this day.
