On January 20th, 1997 Werner Schonhofer a 41 year old male was presumed killed by a shark. He was out at Geraldton windsurfing when he disappeared. His wetsuit and harness were recovered and evidence shows that a shark had mutilated them. His body was never recovered. In the attack a 14’9’’ (4.5m) tiger shark is the assumed attacker.
