Jerrod Stehbens died August 18th, 2005 while diving with students out on the Tyre Reef by a shark, believed to be a Great White shark. As a marine biologist he was diving for cuttlefish eggs for research when a shark grabbed his leg and took him towards the bottom. His body was never recovered.
