Non-Fatal Shark Attack, Sunderland

Description

Ronald D. Sunderland from the Royal Australian Nave was on leave from HMAS on February 10th, 1946 when a shark attacked him. He was at City Beach standing when a 13’9’’ (4.2m) white shark bit is leg. Sunderland would need the leg to be surgically amputated, but he would survive the attack.
