Well, the Force is developed by a simple (but not easy) change in your state of attention. For example, your usual state of attention is to look with your eyes. To develop the Force you need to augment your state of attention such that you are aware of yourself looking. In other words, include yourself in the act of looking -- as Yoda demonstrates in image 1 at lower right.

You can do this right now: As you look at this screen, become aware of yourself looking at it. If you are successful, you will notice a very subtle sensation or presence which, with practice over many months and years, will develop into the Force.

If you were unable to become aware of yourself looking simply by intending to do so, there are a couple of alternative approaches...

Raise your eyes slightly -- not your head, just your eyes. You will notice your field of vision appears to be more expansive. For inspiration, image 2 shows a 15th c. portrait of a man diligently developing the Force via this approach.

Or, rather than raising your eyes, simply pay attention to the shapes and colors in your peripheral vision. Again, you will notice your vision appears to be more expansive. Image 3 shows another 15th c. portrait of a man doing just this -- developing the Force via his peripheral vision.

But however you approach it, the key to this change of attention is to will yourself to maintain it over many minutes. That's difficult for most people because they lack Will. But as you struggle, recall Yoda's words: "Do or do not... there is no try.”
