The arrest of a man who Toronto Police allege sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl has shocked residents of a west-end neighbourhood where he lived and worked.

"We trusted him," one woman, not wanting to identify herself, said in the laundromat where he worked.

She was among others in the neighbourhood who were handed a photocopy of the man's picture yesterday by Toronto Police who canvassed the area for witnesses and possibly other victims.

The 51-year-old accused man lived in a flat above the Star Laundromat on Dufferin St. at Glencairn Ave. for about three years and worked cleaning the business after hours, his landlady, identified only as Mila, said. He's charged with sex assault and making child pornography.
