A Fort Myers Beach resident and former Largo police officer was sentenced to five years in federal prison Wednesday for possession of child pornography.

Jamie Bogdan, 33, pleaded guilty to the charge in June. He was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Susan Bucklew in Tampa. According to court documents, Bogdan was interviewed by FBI agents and admitted to downloading child pornography. When agents examined his computer, they found a video of a minor female involved in sexual activity and more than 600 child pornography images.

Bogdan was a Largo police officer for more than two years, resigning Oct. 17. He had most recently worked at BJ’s Wholesale Club as a security guard in Fort Myers.
