A jury convicted James Robert Wilson, 38, of the third-degree felony after a week-long trial in early August. Wilson, who faced from probation to 10 years in prison, chose to be sentenced by Criminal District Judge John Stevens rather than his trial jury.

"The court finds this bad enough if you do it in your own home, but you were on state property that taxpayers and students of Lamar University pay for," Stevens said to Wilson before sentencing him.

"Child pornography is not a victimless crime," the judge said. "People like you create and sustain the market for child pornography."
