A former day care center employee was sentenced Wednesday in federal court to eight years and one month in prison for possessing "thousands and thousands" of images of child pornography.

Jason W. DeAlmeida, 32, of Madison, possessed hundreds of videos and thousands of sexually explicit images of children -- some sadistic in nature -- on his home computer, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Przybylinski Finn.
