Detectives say the 18-year-old girl found dead in a Southwest Portland apartment died of strangulation.

Officials did not previously release the exact cause of death, only said Emily Egan died of homicidal violence.

They were apparently waiting for the grand jury to indict the man believed to be responsible for her death, 37-year-old Paul "Gene" Frizzelle. He was officially indicted for the murder Friday.
