A Shelby County man re­mained in the Autauga Metro Jail this week under bonds total­ing $280,000 after he was ar­rested Friday and charged with using his home computer to so­licit sex with a child and to transmit pornographic material to a child.

Prattville police charged Richard Glenn Burchfield, 43, of Wilsonville with 20 counts of so­liciting a child by computer, and one count each of transmitting obscene materials to a child by computer and possession of child pornography.

The arrest stems from a near­ly yearlong investigation by lo­cal police during which Burch­field, who ironically used the online moniker "Cheezer280", carried on a continuing corre­spondence of a sexual nature with a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
