in the true spirit of old los angeles, a wonderfully eclectic, sometimes dingy outdoor market with shaded seating. there are probably forty vendors, some of which sell produce and gourmet items, but most of them are small mom and pop restaurants, offering an astonishing variety of options: from fondue to vietnamese, mexican to jewish delicatessens, cajun seafood to brazilian, the list goes on. it's not top of the line cuisine. rather, it's more like home cooking.

you will encounter your fair share of tourists here, but most of the customers are bona fide angelenos.
