Hi jlosch -- this is a smart use of Listphile. I just wanted to let you know that you can easily add maps to this list so that you can map exact locations as well. Just go to List Settings > Customize Data Fields, and it should be self explanatory. Feel free to email me at listphile -at- gmail -dot- com if you have any questions.
Hi there -- good idea for a list. I just wanted to let you know that you can set the map on the main page of this atlas so that it's centered on Corvallis. Just zoom and scroll to whatever position you like, and click on the "Save current map view as default" button. Thanks for contributing! - Steve from Listphile
hey luftyluft. fyi, we fixed the field position bug in this list that was preventing you from moving the bacon number field up. i moved it to just below the "Actor" field, hope that was ok with you.
diabhal -- great idea! i wanted to let you know that you can have the map set so that it's centered on London. Just go to the main page for your list, zoom and pan the map to wherever you want, and click on the "Save current map view as default" button below the map, and it will always show that map view. Let me know if you have any questions, and great idea! - steve from listphile
p.s. I love this list/gallery. I keep on adding to it because I want to see it huge and full of thumbs, then blog about it...We currently, in thumb view, limit thumbs to 64 per page, but i'm thinking of changing that to reflect list settings (25, 50, 100).

Hi guryushika -- great idea for a list! I just created an entry for a center in Northern California. It occurred to me, as I was adding the information, that this list might benefit from having an extra field for the "name of the center." Also, if people add more than one center per country, I think there's going to be a problem with conflicting titles (i.e. if someone tries to add another "France", Listphile will give them an error message, because only one thing in each list can be named a given name). Perhaps the solution is the rename the "Country" field to the name of the center, and then add another field (it won't be derived from the original title field) for country. Also, another thing is you could simply ask folks to add tags for each country, and it could be sorted by tags, too. Anyways, just thought I'd give my two cents. Regards, Steve

Definitely. A number of people have requested this via the feedback form. One way of achieving this now, of course, is to create a tagsonomy. But this is still not as used and grokked on a wide basis as the hierarchies of folders, categories, and parent-child relationships.
I agree with you 100% luftyluft. Open API is a top priority. It's less of a cool thing when you're still seeding the pot with interesting user generated content, but still a worthwhile endeavor. My goal is to convince people to embrace this new app while rolling out an api that will enable things that we will blow our minds.

Sir, your contribution is requested on another list: The World's Best Beers - some Danish and Scandihoovian representation is needed. When you have time ;)
Cool, I'll check Facebook groups out, as well as Yahoo! groups. We're also thinking about making a Facebook app where you can install listphile lists. That might be pretty cool. In the meantime, I'll invite a few friends to contribute to your list.
Hi DaNovo - I'm going to feature this list on the home page of Listphile so as to encourage more beer drinkers to contribute. Any suggestions on places where I can post about the list? Yahoo! Groups?
Also, we are working on making these lists embeddable in other websites, so that the work you and your community of martial artists put into this will be shareable and easily distributed throughout the internet. Kind of like a portable database or atlas :)
Hi bconnors -- I love the idea for this list. Let me know if you have feedback on Listphile as you add and collaborate with others. Soon we'll have the ability to embed lists in other sites, so something like this can take on a life of it's own. Kind of like a portable database. Cheers - Steve
Hi there -- great list! Thanks for posting to Listphile. I wanted to let you know that we just added this list to the home page, under the "Featured Lists" header. It should be up there in a few minutes. Cheers - Steve from Listphile
Hi rubyboy - I hope you don't mind, but I took the initiative to center your map for the entire list on greater Sydney. You can always reorient it to whatever zoom level you want, and hit the "save current map view as default" so that all of your list visitors see it the way you want them to.
It was deeply disappointing to watch Colin Powell stand in front of the world at the United Nations and present an inaccurate rationalization for war on behalf of the U.S.
Interesting to see how many companies (GM included) have updated their logos to make them look more three dimensional, shiny, and "buttony". UPS is another company that recently embarked on this path, as well as Chevron.
For sure, and also organizations or private groups might want to create a list or database that they want to keep to themselves. Creating permissions and invites within private lists would be essential for these kinds of folks to properly utilize the service.

Deleting a list on Listphile is straightforward. Just go to the list that you created (make sure you are still logged in), and click on the List Settings tab. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and you will see a "destroy list" link on the left side at the bottom.
steve thanks for the kind words, it's hard to believe I just started my list less than 36 hours ago. I'm up over 2k page views and I have 176 quality items in my list. I'm not done and it will take a few weeks for me to really pull out all the obscure items for my list. This list also looks interesting as well.
Not "just useful" - I believe that for most ventures focusing on user generated content, an API is a fundamental element of success. That said, it requires a fair amount of investment and planning to execute properly. Bandwidth use can increase dramatically and computational resources can be taxed when 3rd parties start leveraging the platform in new ways. You also have to consider security, fair use, and preserving people's right to protect their original works. Hopefully we'll see some of the basic list management operations exposed soon!

I just added a ticket to our internal issue tracking system. We'll probably add Sketchcast to the list of supported embedded video types. We're currently working on tightening down the description fields (and other related fields), so that this kind of thing won't be possible. Images and embeds won't be supported within these fields. Basically links, and a few formatting tags will be supported.

learn your shit buddy, the best swell direction is even wrong.
and why would you put this on the internet so you can help crowd a spot you dont surf?????
it can get pretty crowded for those on long boards, but i like to go here when third point is too frustrating. it might not be as consistent but it also tends to not section like malibu and the regulars are pretty friendly
great spot to take new learners who get intimidated by crowds. sometimes too walled up, but for good peak-spotters and paddlers, trails is amazing. all things considered, my favorite spot in San Clemente.

I'm confused. I would like to believe he is a left-handed person since I am as well, but I have this huge poster of him called "The Wisdom of Einstein" above my desk and he is definitely writing with his right hand. Do you have any evidence to support this claim other than Wikipedia?
Due to economic problems that the United States is facing, the world's leading car manufacturer, General Motors is now cutting down the number of their employees and closing some of its SUV and truck plants in other nations. General Motors has been the world's bestseller of cars and trucks for the last 80 years. But in 2008 they lost, they have been overpowered by Toyota, also a famous car maker from Japan. I guess the government of the United States should also help GM with what they are going through to preserve more jobs among US citizens. Please read the article about entitled "GM no longer top auto maker" at your <a title="READ GM No Longer Top Auto Maker | Article by Payday Loan\ Source" rev="vote-for" href="http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2009/01/21/gm-no-longer-top-auto-maker-article-by-payday-loan-source/">payday loan</a> source.
This gets my vote. I want my students and their parents to be able to go online, leave their contact info for me to view, and not have to worry about other eyes seeing it. (I realize that cuts out the income from the Google ads, but it would sure be nice.)

Genesis meets future-physics. We all have the potential for omnipotent expression of ideas and creation. The creation of the Universe was merely a backwards in time projection of an idea. Original creation occurred after the event and Man was not God’s creation; God was Man’s creation, from a starting point of sometime in the future. Once one person has worked-out how to create the Universe, in the future, we can all exist in the present and past. Luckily for us all, that has already will going to happen.
Change will happen to people when they retire. 20 years out of the work-place and one can become a bit detached from the experience of others. In the earlier (but more recently released) film, Yoda is in his prime, full-on and career motivated. In the Degoba scene, Yoda is whacking R2 with a walking stick like any pensioner standing up for himself. There’s no continuity issue here. Move on. Nothing to see here. :)

Kind of like a portable database or atlas :)

Let me know if you have feedback on Listphile as you add and collaborate with others. Soon we'll have the ability to embed lists in other sites, so something like this can take on a life of it's own. Kind of like a portable database. Cheers - Steve

You can always reorient it to whatever zoom level you want, and hit the "save current map view as default" so that all of your list visitors see it the way you want them to.

UPS is another company that recently embarked on this path, as well as Chevron.

Creating permissions and invites within private lists would be essential for these kinds of folks to properly utilize the service.
